On 24 June the fifth Dutch Life Sciences SME Event will take place at De Glazen Ruimte, Maarsen where the majority of the Dutch Life Sciences will get together. What are the secrets of success? How can startups and young companies benefit from the knowledge, expertise and services available in the life sciences community? Join the Dutch Life Sciences SME Event to find the answers!

Life sciences is booming in the Netherlands. Over 600 life sciences companies are developing innovative products that heal, feed and fuel the world. A growing number of Dutch companies are able to secure considerable private investments, worth billions of dollars each year. And an increasing number of Dutch technologies and products find their way into the global community. During the Life Sciences SME event, HollandBIO will present a joint sector vision to gain momentum for the further development of the Dutch life sciences sector towards 2030.

During the plenary programme, two life sciences entrepreneurs who made the headlines last year will present their amazing story. Four interactive workshops will zoom in on important biobusiness topics, such as finance, business development and leadership skills. Our Meet-the-Expert programme will give you the opportunity to sign up for one or more free 20-minute meetings with an expert in a field of choice.

eHealth Week 2016 is organised by the Dutch Ministry of Health as part of the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the European Commission and HIMSS Europe. This year’s educational programme will focus on three main themes: Empowering People, Trust & Standards and Social Innovation & Transition.

eHealth policies are changing. Until now, policies have mainly focused on institutions and IT systems: today, that focus is shifting and is now being placed on eHealth users. The people who are using eHealth are becoming increasingly involved in the discussion and being placed at the heart of eHealth policy-making.

The Netherlands is one of the most digitally mature countries in Europe and is home to one of the four HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 hospitals in Europe as well as having eight Stage 6 hospitals: it is an ideal place for the European eHealth Community to come together!

Startup-2-Scaleup Event during the eHealth week.

There are many digital health startups that offer excellent products and services. However efforts to scale-up this companies are lagging. On 7 June a special startup-2-scaleup event will be the stage for discussing the barriers startups face in scaling up. Delegates will listen to experts and are provided with tools to bring their startups to the next phase. The speakers represent the main stakeholder groups: policymakers, insurers, health institutions, patients, investors, regional ecosystems and financial institutions. They will help to boost the scaling up of ambitious startups. This is also a part of Top Sector LSH's vision that is realised, for example, through the LifeSciences@Work Accelerator.

The organisation of the Startup-2-Scaleup event asks for your active participation. If you are one of those ambitious startups then join us, learn from others and meet new partners. If you are a partner then join us and open up your knowledge and network during the matchmaking session.

But this is not a stand-alone event. Over the past few months we have brought together different stakeholders to create the Startup-2-Scaleup group in which we are creating new opportunities for startups to grow. You can find out more about this on 7 June. Stay tuned!

Health~Holland Pavilion heads to San Francisco - 6 to 9 June.

From 6 to 9 June, this year’s BIO International Convention (BIO) is taking place in San Francisco. BIO is the largest global event for the biotechnology industry. It attracts the biggest names in biotech, offers key networking and partnering opportunities, and provides insights and inspiration on major trends affecting the industry. Of course, the Netherlands will be present at the exhibition floor with the Health~Holland Pavilion. We welcome all Dutch delegates and their business partners to visit us for a cup of coffee. In addition, individual companies are invited to present themselves in the ‘Dutch Biotech in the Spotlight Corner’. See you in San Francisco at booth 5250!
