Congresstival for key players in the Life Sciences & Health sector with a global view.

For more than 5 years the Task Force Health Care (TFHC) has organised influential, leading and large conferences with a focus on global health challenges, international trends and export. Their events bring together the Dutch Life Sciences & Health sector with international ambitions and global views.

The World of Health Care (WoHC) is already considered to be the largest and most inspiring ‘congresstival’ in the Netherlands. Around 500+ Life Sciences & Health organisations from private business, civil society, knowledge institutions and government will all attend the event. The main goals of the World of Health Care are networking, knowledge-sharing, inspiration and learning about global & local health trends, challenges and opportunities. More than 1800 square meters of interaction, international workshops, work-spots, interactive breakout sessions and food trucks! WoHC has already announced keynote speakers, such as Edith Schippers, Minister of Health, Welfare & Sport], André Kuipers, ESA Astronaut / Physicist, Jeroen Tas, CEO Informatics Solutions and Services Philips Health, and our own Nico van Meeteren and many more will follow!

The Task Force Health Care and RVO (team International Research and Innovation) organise, together with Holland Innovation Network and the Brightlands China Centre in Maastricht, a mission on international medical technology cooperation to China, Hong Kong & Shenzhen.

MedTech opportunities in China:
China has the world’s largest population and will be facing huge challenges in health care during the coming years. There is a strong push by the Chinese government to encourage innovation within the home-grown medical device industry. This includes cooperation with more advanced (overseas) partners, joint development projects, and providing subsidies to innovative overseas companies which have a serious interest in bringing their advanced technology to China.

Dutch company profile for this mission:
Innovative Dutch medical device companies looking for opportunities to attract international investment or form international research and development partnerships. These are companies with either a technology readiness level (TRL) 5 – 6 or start-ups looking for Chinese investors. Research institutes in relevant areas with an interest in joint industry-research projects are also encouraged to participate.

What can you expect during the mission:

• Collective visits to innovative and advanced medical technology institutes, companies and universities /research institutes in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
•  Seminars on funding possibilities for technology cooperation and recent medical developments in the EU and China.
• Project building and matchmaking with companies and institutes not only from China, but also from other country delegations (including Switzerland, Israel and the USA).
• Participation in the InnovaTech Roadshow event, with the opportunity to pitch in front of around 100 companies including venture capitalists, investment and MedTech companies from Switzerland, Israel and the USA. This event will also provide unique insight into what is trending within the Chinese medical device market and how to gain access to this huge market.
• Entrance and visit to the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) with around 100,500 visitors from 140+ countries and around 4,000 exhibitors from 26 countries.

Costs for participation:

Costs for participation will be  € 950,- (excl. VAT) per company.

Additional individual costs, such as flight, hotel costs and eventual costs for translators are on your own expense.

The Dutch Life Sciences conference is hosted by organisations and companies whose mission is to help realising the further development and growth of the Dutch life sciences industry. This event organised by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) in collaboration with the EUREKA Secretariat and Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) is dedicated to the Eurostars programme, the first European funding and support programme to be specifically dedicated to SMEs. This annual event will aim to foster cooperation between enterprises, universities and research institutes and to offer participants the possibility to meet potential partners for (R&D) cooperation. During this event a lot of opportunities for (inter)national match making, project building and information sharing. Life Sciences & Health will be one of the focus areas. Eurostars

The Eurostars programme supports international innovative projects led by research and development-performing small- and medium-sized enterprises (R&D-performing SMEs). Large companies, universities and research institutes may also participate in projects. The program is a collaboration of the EUREKA network and the European Union and has a total budget of 1.1 Billion Euro for a seven year period. Within Eurostars, SMEs can apply for funding together with research organisations and the public sector for the development of market-oriented processes, products and services. Through international collaboration, Eurostars companies gain access to new knowledge, new partnerships and the opportunity to test new markets.

In the Netherlands an annual amount of 18 million Euro is available for funding. With a good success rate, it’s a very interesting support programme for the Dutch Life Sciences & Health sector. Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl), and more specifically the Department of International Research & Innovation is the national contact point for all questions related to EUREKA and Eurostars in the Netherlands.
